Pressed Brass Mirror Restoration (Final Phase)

Before the Holidays we discussed the first phase of our restoration on a very distressed pressed brass mirror. We are excited to show you all of the progress we've made!

Here, new mirror has been cut for the sides and the original etched mirror remains on the center.

We are now ready to attach the pressed brass pieces.

The brass pieces are very delicately laid back in place and anchored with brass nails. New ornament has been made to replace sections that were not salvagable. The new ornament will be toned to perfectly match the rest of the mirror.

The image above shows the newly reinforced back with sawtooth hanger, the replaced and newly carved top piece, and matching pine backing to replace the original rusted metal back piece.
